Osteria in Brooklyn

Once upon a time, Restaurant Week was something to look forward to annually. Recently, the Boroughs of New York have taken things into their own hands.

The cities, and communities, within each borough have been coming together to bring the locals mouth-watering dishes for a inexpensive price throughout the course of the year.

I am not complaining.

How to get me to order dessert? Bring a display of the goodies to my table, sì 😋

During the week of 02/17/23-02/26/23, Myrtle Avenue (in Brooklyn) held its first ever Restaurant Week. Nine restaurants were featured, and each offered a 3-course meal for either $20, $30 or $40.

  • Casa Nono
  • Osteria Brooklyn
  • Castro’s
  • DunHuang
  • Glin Thai Bistro
  • Lula Mae
  • Putnam’s Pub
  • Spice and Grill
  • U-GU

Though I wish I could’ve visited all nine, I was able to visit one: Osteria Brooklyn. And I was not disappointed.

Branzino alla Forno was *chef’s kiss* I did send my compliments to them, I hope they received it
Chicken and spaghetti with a twist!

Since returning from Italy, 5 years ago, I’ve been trying to find restaurants that make me long for that “home-cooked pasta” feeling. I’ve searched high and low. I did manage to find one (which I’ll dedicate a blog post to soon) but never thought I’d get that “just like nona used to make it” feeling again.

I heard through the grapevine that this was spectacular!

Until I ate at Osteria Brooklyn.

I can still taste this salad, y’all
Eggplant Parmigiana was scrumptious

From the outside Osteria Brooklyn appears to be your typical modern-day bistro. Upon going further into the establishment, one gets a sense of nostalgia and yearning for cobbled stoned streets.

Though the seating is a bit clustered, it doesn’t affect the vibe; you feel as though the other tables are miles apart. Additionally, the music was unexpected. It was disco-esque with tunes from Diana Ross, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Rick James, Prince and Beyoncé made appearances as well.

My cousins didn’t even give me a chance to order it myself because they knew crème brûlée is life! P.S the best I’ve had in Brooklyn!

Every single dish at Osteria was orgasmic! Not an ounce of disappointment from myself or my fam. From the insalatina di spinaci — that I can still taste on my tongue — to the torta alla meringa.

I mean c’mon! Who wouldn’t want their fettuccine to be served in a giant Parmigiano wheel?

All phones were obsolete once the pictures were documented

Below is the list of dishes (and drinks) we had overall. Rave reviews from everyone!

  • Burrata & Prosciutto
  • Melanzane alla Parmigiana
  • Insalatina di Spinaci
  • Fettuccine Osteria Brooklyn
  • Pollo Caprese
  • Branzino al Forno
  • Torta alla Meringa
  • Crema Catalana
  • Tortino di Cioccolato
  • Limoncello Sprits
  • Osteria Brooklyn

I want to say I’ll try this on my next visit but I know I’ll end up getting the crème brûlée again. Perhaps on my third visit?
Melts in your mouth? ✅

You absolutely cannot go wrong with any of those choices. We all practically licked our plates clean!

Though I thoroughly enjoyed everything (and the samples from the non-meat dishes), I am looking forward to the salad and fantastic dessert again!

I can only have pear at this establishment from now on
Osteria Brooklyn did not skimp on the vodka when it came to their signature drink!
The perfect aperitivo for my palate

See you soon, Osteria Brooklyn!

Perfection!
