What movies have you watched more than 5 times?
There are but a handful of movies and shows that I’d rather rewatch for the 100th time than to feast my eyes upon something new.
New? I don’t know her.
One thing they say about mental trauma is that one tends to find extreme comfort in repetitive actions, and also in nostalgia.
That might explain why dementia patients reminisce on the past, or someone with PTSD might regress to their younger selves.

Am I saying that you watching and rewatching an ideal favorite is due to mental illness? Not at all! Itโs just a comparison of nostalgia, repetition and my understanding of certain traumatic symptoms.
Anyways, there are movies that leave such a huge impact that youโd choose to rewatch them, over an Oscar worthy one, each and every time.
1. The Mummy (1999)
I can quote this movie almost word for word. I rewatched it last week with one of our editors and Iโm surprised they didnโt tell me to shut up throughout the film ๐ค ๐งโโ๏ธ
2. The Lion King ๐ฆ ๐
One of the best animated film ever! The range of emotions I feel watching this movie remains the same after all of these years. From happiness to heartbreak to pride. Itโs hard not to see why The Lion King was the peak of the Disney Renaissance era. Also, Iโve already watched it twice this year with @jasperthebombay ๐ฉ
3. Love Jones
*le sigh* One of the best love stories to be told on the silver screen. The 90s, poetry and melanated people. What more can I ask for? Was their relationship perfect? Nope. Neither was the one in The Notebook. But this is what makes Love Jones interesting to view repeatedly. Life isnโt always peaches & cream, and sometimes we will go through rough patches with a significant other. However, we have to know when itโs worth fighting for or if we should just let it go.
4. The Hangover ๐ค
This movie is hilarious as fโฆ to me! If ever I need a belly aching rumble, this is one that I turn to. From the absurdities of Mr. Chow to the shenanigans of Alan & the โwolf packโ, I love it all! This is another one that I annoyingly quote out loud โ throughout the film.
5. Grease
I know, I know. Some might consider this film problematic or overrated. But, when I was growing up this ๐ฅ was an essential part of my life. Believe it or not, Iโm a gigantic musical buff and can definitely do a top 10 list. Though Purple Rain, Hairspray or Singing in the Rain can easily be in this spot, Grease is the one that I have many inside jokes to.
Let me know in the comments whatโs on your list. They donโt have to be the best just your favorite.

I was born in Guyana (South America), and moved to Brooklyn, New York just shy of becoming a teenager. Though Brooklyn was my home for more than half of my life, my heart remained in Guyana. Talk about being torn in two!
I think I was bitten by the Wanderlust Bug at a young age. Too broke to travel, I read instead. And you know what they say about reading? (They say a lot of things so any quote you choose may work for this purpose). Due to an unhealthy obsession with books, I developed a passion for writing & telling stories. I like my writings most times.
I once called Italy home. Whilst there in Europe, I explored and wrote as much as I could. It was there I came up with the concept of "Roaming Kitty". Upon returning to the US my passion dwindled especially during the pandemic. Recently I, along with a few amazing people, worked on revamping the blog.
Please feel free to stick around for my continued journey around the world -- or if you have something better to do perhaps bookmark me and return later?
Come for the photos, and stay for the words.
